During the Gassensensationen street theatre festival, street artists from around the world put on their productions every summer in Heppenheim’s old town.
 
Admission to all events is free, and everyone can come and watch, stay or leave. Thus the Gassensensationen festival has turned into a folk art which has succeeded in taking culture to the people and opening the door for theatre.
 
The 2010 Gassensensationen took place from 14 to 17 July.

International street theatre groups transformed Heppenheim’s old town once again last year into a colourful stage and inspired the enthusiasm of the far more than 30,000 visitors from near and far for open-air theatre.
